This week we are a day late, but hopefully not a dollar short. We take time to correct the record on the song Robert gave Chris incorrect lyrics. Then Robert highlights a verse that stood out to him this week during his time with God. 2 Corinthians 1:9 says that Paul had to learn to rely on God. He was human just like us, and it gives us both encouragement and direction to continue to learn to rely on God.

This week, we dive into 1 Peter 2:1-2 and Chris describes the most delicious ribs imaginable. Then he shows how craving the word of God is similar. That as you grow in your faith there should be a craving in your own soul which led to Ps 34:8 that calls us to "taste and see that the Lord is good..." Robert discusses how he chooses to take time to praise when life is tough, and he finds inexpressible and glorious joy in Jesus.

Ep 50: God Given Wisdom

This is our 50th podcast, and we are humbled to have folks listening and responding. We are going live with our social media accounts on Instagram and Facebook, and we are asking our friends to share our accounts and podcasts.
This week Robert gives a quick update on several things going on in his life, and Chris brings us up to date on his journey with his house. Chris shares that he and Julie are continuing to seek God's wisdom as they look for the house God has in store for them. Chris shares a book that is next on his list call: Create to Hear God by Havilah Cunnington.
That discussion on wisdom naturally leads to Proverbs 2:1-8, and ultimately into discussing the three things that are our responsibility and the three things God promises for those who seek him wholeheartedly.

Robert shares about another ship christening in Mobile Alabama for the EPF-15 Point Loma. He shares about how he met the folks who built the ship and how he got to hear their inspiring stories of building ships in support of our nations defense.
Then Robert shares how his daily reading came from Romans 12, and that verse three really caused him to stop and think. Paul instructs everyone to not think "more highly of yourself than you out to think". Then he proceeds to instruct followers of Christ to find their function in the body of Christ and exercise those gifts in the body of Christ.

Ep 48: God Equips the Called

This week Robert share's how God reminded him this week that He equips those he calls. In fact, it is in our weakness that He shows himself strong. Paul in 1 Corinthians 1:27 states, "But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of this world to shame the strong."
Chris makes the connection to one of Peter's first public speaking appearance in Acts 4:8-13. "When they saw the courage of Peter and John and realized that they were unschooled ordinary men, they were astonished and they took note that these men had been with Jesus." It was the fact they had been with Jesus that made the difference. When we are with Jesus, people around us notice.

Ep 47: The Easy Yoke

This week Robert details his trip to the Christening of the USS Patrick R Gallagher (DD-127). He tells about his travels to Bath ME, and gives a few of the highlights of the event. 
Then Chris takes us to a few scriptures that God brought up in his reading this week. We start discussing Matthew 11:28-30, "Come to me, all who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light." Robert explains how relevant this scripture has been to his daily walk recently.
Then Chris draws the connection to Hebrews 4:12-16. We talk about how God exposes who we really are and why knowing that he loves us anyway allows us to go boldly before his throne. 
May Psalms 139:23-24 be your prayer as you learn to let God expose areas you need to shave off in your daily life.

Ep 46: For Such a Time as This

Chris and I have not caught up in two weeks, so that is really where we start in this episode. Chris got to see the Ark and the Creation museum, and Robert discusses the pace of his busiest week yet.
Then Chris points out today Chapter 10 of Esther, and that the only person mentioned in this chapter is Mordecia. It says in verse 3, "Mordecai the Jew was second in rank to King Xerses preeminent among the Jews, and held in high esteem by his many fellow Jews, because he worked for the good of his people and spoke up for the welfare of all Jews."
This leads into a discussion of Esther as read from the perspective of Mordecai, and how God used Mordecai as much if not more than Esther during this period of time. God elevated Mordecai from gate guard to "second in rank". 
In the story of Mordecai, Chris points out that God fights for you, God protects you, and that relational authority can be as effective (if not more) as positional authority. The idea is that God's is transforming your life as he works through you in your sphere of influence.

Ep 45: What Are You Pursuing?

After Chris and I catch up on what we did for the 4th of July, we discuss his reading from 1 Timothy 6:3-21. Chris takes time to draw out the idea of "man of God" or "woman of God". In fact, he tells us a little about how God initiated an interest in his now wife, Julie. 
Then we discuss one of the times in the Bible where God tells us to "flee from" something and "pursue" something else. It was an awesome discussion on what it means to pursue Godliness. We hope that you take time to think deeply about what you are pursuing.
