Chris briefly tells us what God is teaching him about his word for the year, "rest", and Robert discovers Chris read the exact passage that morning that he wanted to discuss. Ps 143 is a cry of David for God to act because God is faithful and righteous not because David deserves it. Robert and Chris discuss the heart of humility that must be in place to have a view of prayer that says, "not because of me Lord, but because you are righteous and faithful!" It is about showing up, getting real with God, and then asking Father to act on your behalf so that He can get the glory. There are lots of great personal stories in this one, and we pray it draws you into a closer walk with God.

Luke 9:51 says, "Now when the days drew near for him to be taken up, Jesus set out resolutely to go to Jerusalem." As we discuss what it means to live as a citizen of heaven in Philippians 1:27-30, it takes us to something Chris was reading this week about Jesus final journey to Jerusalem. Jesus addresses in Luke 9:57-62 the cost of following Jesus with the shadow of the cross on the horizon. Jesus addressed the physical cost, the relational cost, and the personal cost of following after him. Jesus was driving home that to follow Jesus requires an "All In" attitude. Are you all in?

After taking a walk down memory lane as Chris reminisces about Nacogdoches, Robert takes us through the connection between Stephen and Paul. Stephen is the first martyr as Paul watches and approves only to find himself (Paul) in chains for the gospel later. Paul makes the statement that he is both happy the gospel is being preached and that to live or die is gain. A relationship with Jesus that results in an unfettered life of testifying about Christ is what we hope everyone strives for.

This week, Robert discusses what God had been walking him through this week. From John 7 to 1 Sam 9, Robert and Chris discuss how the Holy Spirit guides and strengthens us through everyday situations. Christ offered to let us drink from streams of living water now, and through the Holy Spirit, we can drink daily. We look forward to walk folks through what it looks like to drink the streams of living water now and how it can empower us now.

This week, Chris takes us through one of the things God has been teaching him. He points out how Jesus teaches the Kingdom of God is here now. He describes how in Mark 4:26-29, the parable that Jesus is describing is not of the Kingdom at work in the future, but that the Kingdom of God is working now even when we do not observe it. So, if we want to participate in the Kingdom of God now, we have the responsibility to work to plant, water, and harvest all that God is doing. He is calling us to join him in His work. In fact, Chris states that "our job is to sow seeds of faith through steps of obedience", and that is exactly what we discuss.

This week, the Israelite defeat at Ai, a seemingly minor setback after their monumental victory at Jericho, serves as a potent reminder that even after great triumphs, complacency and disobedience can lead to significant consequences. This humbling experience laid bare crucial lessons about the importance of unwavering obedience to divine commands, the destructive nature of hidden sin within a community, and the necessity of seeking God in ALL things.
